About our school

westerntoledosm.org school introduction

Western Toledo Preparatory Academy at Spring Meadows is a public charter school serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade in Holland, Ohio, just outside Toledo. Ohio grades every school on a five-star scale across multiple performance dimensions. This school earned 5 stars for Progress, which means students here are growing faster than the state expects, no matter where they started. That's not a claim from the school. That's the state's own rating.

The school is built around STEAM: science, technology, engineering, art, and math. Those subjects aren't enrichment extras. They're the method. A student doesn't just learn about circuits by reading about them. They build one. They don't learn to read data in the abstract. A project requires it. The school day is organized around hands-on learning from kindergarten through eighth grade, and that structure is what drives the results.

What makes Western Toledo Prep distinct is the community that holds it together. Families stay because the school feels safe, the teachers know their children by name, and the hands-on STEAM approach turns abstract lessons into things kids can actually build and test.

It's a publicly funded school. There's no tuition, no fees, and no cost to families.

  • Free breakfast and lunch every school day.
  • Free transportation for eligible students within the district.
